The Arts Science Museum in Singapore (Dali)

Designed as a symbolic gesture of welcome to guests from across the globe, the lotus-inspired ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands looked and sounded like a spot worth visiting. Since the conference was at MBS, my colleague and I decided to head down to have a look at the results marrying art and science together.

Believe it or not, we forgot to take a shot of the building!

Took a picture of my ticket though

The Dali exhibition Exhibition consists of over 250 Dali artworks and  is divided into three themed areas - Femininity and SensualityReligion and Mythology and Dreams and Fantasy.

Femininity and Sensuality
Dali's works with all the symbolical items: Melted clock, Egg , Ants

The female form and its sensuality is featured in Dali’s artworks in this area.

Religion And Mythology

Reflecting Dali’s tempestuous and ambiguous relationship with the Church, artworks in this area include renowned sculptures such as the Snail and the Angel, Adam and Eve and Vision of the Angel.

Dreams & Fantasy

Something wrong with this picture?

Words of wisdom

Dali has been fascinated with the subconscious mind as the true canvas for expression of personality.  This is translated through his sculptures such as Persistence of Memory and Dance of Time I.  Other works that refer to a life lived through dreams and distorted visions of reality include the alluring Alice in Wonderland and Spellbound, a huge 11 meter by 5 meter visually spectacular 1945 painting borne from Dali’s collaboration with Alfred Hitchcock.  Spellbound is the size of two double decker buses.

There was also the Van Gogh and Shipwrecked! exhibitions which were not as impressive - although I might post some pictures of them up just for memory's sake!

Anyway, here's the farewell picture we took from just outside the ASM.

I'm big fab of ART. Not that sht where it looks like a 5 year old splattered paint on a canvas because the 'artist' was full of social ANGST. I love art. i wish I go to this place...it looks amazing!!
